The beginning of Arco Iris del Caribe S.A.

​It all started when Julio Gamboa and Rafael Ocampo met at the University of Costa Rica in 1984. Julio was a Professor at the University of Costa Rica, and Rafael was at the University of Tropical Agriculture Research and Teaching Center. They met at the University, Julio was selling an old Chevy LUV, and Rafael was interested in the old car. Since the beginning Julio was very honest with him, maybe too much, and told Rafael all the problems he had had with the Chevi LUV. Rafael rapidly lost interest in the car but started a conversation about their passion, THE ORNAMENTAL PLANTS. That was their first informal meeting, which started a friendship that in a few years became in the business Arco Iris del Caribe S.A.
